How We Are 04:55
Love do you ever wish to fly away Holding all you cared to say Is it any wonder Is it anything That your many wishes Turn to nothing And how we are Beyond these walls Many go to fight Many go to war Is it any wonder Is it anything That their many wishes Turn to nothing Turn to nothing Love do you ever wish to fly away
2.
There you sink into the floor Take us with you red and raw Holding on as feathers float Morning light has locked us out Lost you as the feathers float Lost you as the walls they spoke Lost you in the morning light Lost and lured by fearful flight You don’t want to cry That’s when you do Your salted secrets fall upon the ground Weighted whispers warm my face Soak me silly in your grace And we as one we hold you close Sorrow has us by the throat You don’t want to run That’s when you do Your frenzied feet they fall upon the ground Your frenzied feet they fall upon the ground Oh.
3.
One woman in Her many parts Could never satisfy you But I want to Fire in our mouths We put it out But for that moment I'm burning So be here now With hope eternal I see the tunnel in your clenched fist Come on fight me I'll fight you
4.
Oh the quiet Swell I’m brimming Prize me open Pour me out Dirty windows Break the morning On our bodies On our bodies Fifty certain Whips are cracking In the school yard As you pass And a stone sighs “Why you got to Why you got to Move so fast?” Oh the bird is Held by hands large But there are no arms And there are no words And the crossing It’s not easy The sea’s alive The sky’s closed in But I choose ocean From a table Under a hand Safe on land There the window Stands between us Too small for these Clumsy hands Three little steps And we’re there now Glory at the edge of dreams Glory at the edge of dreams Glory at the edge of dreams Glory at the edge of dreams

Undertow 03:20
Watch the tide turn Feel the pull Keep fortune at bay Black oh glory Undertow I love you til I die Gentle wolves in foreign fields Hopeful within pride Pray now spirit keep me safe tonight Ideals broken passing by Wistful vacancies The sky a ceiling It's for me You held it there for days Quiet quiet when bells ring at the break of dawn Pray now spirit help me to go on Quiet quiet as you wake Behind still shut eyes Pray now spirit Let our reasons lie
6.
Marcel 03:45
Move for me Marcel dance your fear away, we’ll make sordid music, let hesitation sway. For just this hour. For just this hour. No talk of sadness, in fluid we’ll forget, no talk of sadness. I will drown in you, you in me, for just this hour, pretend to be, all that we could want, we could need. Lie with me Marcel let our lips collide, we’ll make sordid music then in your arms I’ll hide. For just this hour. For just this hour. I will drown in you, you in me, for just this hour, pretend to be, all that we could know, we could need. I will not know your face. A shadow passing. And the clock it takes your place. A steady, sombre song. Run from me Marcel.

I float in the ever-swirling sea Drift between shores where the preachers be And now and then I watch a bird Fall from grace, its song unheard Beneath you I lay my poetry Take it with love for it’s nothing to me And as time and the planets are ever in flight So now am I, into the night Still I hold out for my worth I hold out for my worth And what of the armour you bought with your blue winter coat Still you are smiling, you’re holding the scar on your throat I run for cover, I run for a hole in the wall I run for cover but this space is just so small Some they are born inside wisdom’s tree Spread their arms through the canopy And their pretty fruit when dropped and bruised Gifts lost to the soles of our shoes In far off places I’m sure of it all I can be the path I can be the door But kneeling now I’m still and try to Talk to a God I feel is a lie Still I hold out for a word I hold out for a word And what of the armour you bought with your blue winter coat Still you are smiling, you’re holding the scar on your throat I run for cover, I run for a hole in the wall I run for cover but this space is just so small Give me music not noise No pleasures I want joy Give me passion no folly No treasures I want soul I want soul.

about

"Let Franzmann’s plaintive voice – a voice as unique as Nico’s or Joni Mitchell’s – guide you through the spare but effective arrangements on the album, which are something like Bill Callahan’s later work as Smog augmented by some baroque flourishes from Misery Is A Butterfly-era Blonde Redhead. Then, once you have soaked up the sheer minimalist beauty of songs such as Undertow or Thankful Tangle, you’ll understand exactly why this short, restrained album (it clocks in at just over half an hour, certainly not outstaying its welcome) is so exciting. If you’re yet to discover McKisko, there’s never been a better time."
****½ Rave Mag

"..her voice is so full of raw intensity that it packs a heart-rending punch. Even on the more uptempo songs there is a warped broodiness lurking just under the surface. This is a totally engaging and thoroughly exhilirating listen."
**** Sydney Morning Herald

"...The sound of the album evokes thoughts of the mellower songs from Sufjan Stevens' Michigan and Seven Swans albums, or even Talk Talk's Laughing Stock - there's a stark pristine quality to these songs, where each instrument is placed just so in the spectrum of sounds."
Before Hollywood

"Helen Franzmann has a tremendous voice, but it’s her musicality (she plays pretty much everything within her capabilities on this album) that really makes it a delight to listen to...I fall short of calling this a ‘classic’ because those observations are usually better made with the benefit of hindsight, but it comes pretty damn close."
Fasterlouder

"The songs wander through minimalist soundscapes, lullabies and haunting indie-folk, all the while quietly pulling the listener into their world... the air between the notes seems to scream louder than the instruments themselves."
The Vine

"McKisko can just as easily lift your spirits as she can shatter your heart, but that bitter tingling feeling you experience by the end is as stupefying as it is necessary."
Four Thousand

"Beautiful stuff." ****
Time Off

"...you imagine this album was recorded in the red velvet draped room with the dwarf in the Twin Peaks dream sequences"
Jmag

"..gorgeous, minimalist tunes with fiery blood... there is a folk-ish temper to her music, but McKisko is more glorious and wilful than the word allows. Amazing."
Beat

"..it feels like your sitting alone with a lingering ghostly presence."
Drum Media

"Glorio feels like the memory of distant childhood scars and cold Berlin winters. With her understanding of the weight of a measured delivery, it's no wonder this lass was chosen to support Bon Iver."
Yen Magazine

"This is a beautiful Album! (No beating round the bush here) Picture yourself slowly floating down a river in a shallow wooden boat. The moon is high in the sky, the night is warm but the air is cool. Wow! Now picture it's Tuesday morning 11am. You’re feeling the ill effects from a rather over indulgent weekend. Take ten minutes out, put on your headphones and press play on Glorio. Hey presto, you’re back floating on that river with not a care in the world. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" Aircharts 2009
